Equipment

  • 2 small heat-safe bowls – for melting your candy wafers.
  • piping bag or zip lock bag with a hole in the corner – to pipe your candy coating onto your strawberries.

Elevate your summer celebration with these beautifully themed chocolate-dipped Patriotic Strawberries adorned in vibrant red, white, and blue. Celebrate in style!

Ingredients

  • 20 Strawberries, washed and at room temperature
  • 1/2 cup blue melting candy wafers
  • 1/4 cup white melting candy wafers
  • 3 tablespoons white coarse sugar sprinkles

Instructions

  1. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and set aside.
  2. In a small microwave-safe bowl, melt the white melting candy wafers according to the package instructions and then transfer it to a pipping bag or zip-top bag with the corner snipped. The hole does not need to be large - just enough to drizzle.
  3. Drizzle the white melted candy over just the top of each strawberry to make white strips, then set them aside on parchment paper to harden.
  4. In a separate small microwave-safe bowl, melt the blue melting candy according to the package instructions and then dip the pointed bottom end of each strawberry into the melted candy to coat it. Quickly sprinkle the white coarse sugar over the blue melted candy and then set the strawberries back onto the parchment paper. Repeat with the remaining strawberries.
  5. Place the baking sheet with the strawberries in your refrigerator to chill for 10 minutes.
  6. Serve the strawberries at room temperature or chilled.

Notes

  • These strawberries can be stored in an airtight container in your refrigerator for up to 3 days. They can also be stored at room temperature and uncovered for up to 12 hours. I do not recommend freezing them.
  • You can substitute any white sugar sprinkles, such as round sugar balls, nonpareils, or stars, for the coarse sugar called for in the recipe.
  • It is important to make sure your strawberries are at room temperature before covering them with melted candy wafers. If they are cold, they will create condensation, which will stop the melted candy from sticking to them. The same thing will happen if you refrigerate them and then let them sit at room temperature for a long period of time. Having said that, make sure if you decide to chill them, that they stay chilled.
  • You can add ½ tablespoon of cooking oil (vegetable, canola, etc.) if your melted candy is too thick. Do not add water. Water will cause the candy to seize and become hard and lumpy.
